Raspberry Pi and the IoT(Internet of things)!

Internet Of Things(IoT)

The complete title in itself suffices the need for a definition though for a Q&A round we may define it as:

Internet of things is basically a network of physical things like your bulbs or fans or any other
such items that can be accessed remotely to perform a function, seamlessly.

Well the possibilities for IoT have no limit.Start thinking from a smart home to a large farm where a farmer can manage all the machineries, cameras and sensors remotely!

What I adore from Smart Home point of view is :

Imagine you come home after work and think you adjust AC cooling your lights your water being ready for a perfect bath and more like your food being automatically ready in microwave!HEAVEN,eh?IoT .

From the worldwide IoT story we come to the size of a credit card to introduce with us the RASPBERRY Pi

Raspberry Pi

Okay So get ready as i introduce you with the credit card sized, very low cost,Single board Computer with USB and HDMI ports ,The Raspberry Pi!

Low cost:yes you heard it right! It starts from a rockbottom$20 pricetag.

Some specs which the raspberry pi offers you:
  • 900Mhz quad core ARM v7
  • RAM 1gb
  • Storage is through a Micro SDHC slot
  • Consumes 3-4W of power
  • Graphics include a broadcom videocoreIV@250Mhz
  • OS;Windows 10 IoT core or some versions of linux
Okay so now we are very much familiar with what Raspberry Pi is .So let's explore what are the infinite possibilities with this device towards IoT.

  • The chip runs Windows 10 IoT core ,again the benefit of universal code comes here
  • Very low cost chip so we can expect smart lights and washing machines in around a year using this chip and become a part of your home's wifi network.
  • Its easy to start and requires very less investment and hence we can see a lot of projects all around the web

So this,my friends, was all about Raspberry Pi and IoT and a little mix of both!

Hope you enjoyed reading! Do Comment if u wanna see any improvements or just have any questions!

Thank You!
